Having received Jesus as our Lord and Savior and having been baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we now joyfully commit to the body of Christ at First Baptist Church of Cedar Springs.
We promise to love each other within our church,
by wholly submitting to the gracious authority of God’s Word;
faithful attendance and financial support;
praying for all and assisting those in sickness and distress;
reconciling conflicts and avoiding gossip, bitterness, and grudges;
serving as we are able and as our church has need.
We promise to support the testimony and outreach of our church,
by speaking well of our church and welcoming newcomers;
living righteously and serving our neighbors;
abstaining from harmful addictions;[i]
prayerfully seeking opportunities to share the Good News of Jesus;
contributing to the peace and prosperity of our community.
[i] In areas of Christian liberty, we promise to be slow to give offense and slow to take offense, neither flaunting our freedom nor binding another’s conscience. When considering activities not addressed in Scripture, we will ask the following questions: Will this action draw me closer to Jesus? Will this action control me or will I control it? Will this action cause a brother or sister to stumble and fall? We will not use our freedom to indulge the flesh but rather to serve one another humbly in love (Galatians 5:13).
